To Longfellow

Image is my own
snow on the mountains
defiant of the warm sun
rests, sugar sprinkled—

—as I stand warming
in this brilliant sunlight bath,
the cross of snow melts—

no longer seeking
refuge upon my still chest,
where feeling returns.
