Todays prompt: Begin a poem with “endless”

Endless winds rustling

Through leaves baked a thin crisp green
By summer’s noon sun.

Endless wilting flowers
Reaping words of empty dust
Sands away meaning.

Endless hope sprouts blooms
In the dry cracked refuge of earth
A survival scented thing.

Lilith’s Daughters

The daughters of Lilith condemned
To chance a gory laden death once again,
All the while, standing vilified as they
Who wear the mantle of Lilith’s power have always been.

Tomorrow and all tomorrows after,
The daughters of Lilith will rise
With the glory and power of their mother,
Breaking the chains men make
Seeking to steal the power of Lilith residing in her daughters
Thus, breaking their spirits to subservient acquiesce.

But each of Lilith’s daughters will remind
Such fearful little men
Their mother was made before Eve
And fashioned of the earth as well.

Todays prompt: “waterfall wishes”

She will never fall to earth again
After soaring among the stars,
The planets a blur. No.

No. She will never swim
In the deepest oceans,
Cavorting with dolphins and whales. No.

No. Never will her soul fly,
Brushing shoulders with angels,
Their wings touching upon her face. No.

No. Never these things.
Never these dangerous things again.
Never allowing illusions to gain sway. No.

No. She will plant her feet firmly in the ground.
Her heart cemented in her chest. Yes.

Yes. That once mighty waterfall
Has slowed to a trickle
As there no longer exist
Any waterfall wishes.

Burn Away

Courtesy of free photo library
Is this what you, indeed, wish?

The feel of some bold mystic chaos
Contained within the fire of kisses
Traveling along the boundaries
Where lived an identity
You lost long ago—
To feel that chaotic fire
Burn away the identity
You wear today—
Feel passionate softness
Twist within and around
Leaving bruises unseen
And you undone
In twisting mystic
Chaos of fire.

Travel These Tracks

Climb this ladder

Away from here

To some place

That mattered,

Real, no abstraction, real

The Power

https://godoggocafe.com/2021/08/03/tuesday-writing-prompt-challenge-august-32021/

Who is to say

From where her power came?

Did it flow from her silken curls?

Or her painted red lips?

Her white skin that glows like the fullest of full moons on a cloudless night?

There’s no way to know

From where her power came

To break through stone.

When

Today’s prompt— Write a poem using evanescence, trill, and longevity.

When

           dreams held up the sky

the edge of sea could cleanse a soul

magic chimed in the songs of birds

the universe trilled with vibrancy contained in starlight

the evanescence of our lives unquestioned

then hope, golden and shining, possessed eternal longevity.

Heaven?

Tuesday Writing Prompt Challenge June 15, 2021 | Go Dog Go Café (godoggocafe.com)

Have I seen Heaven in her eyes?  You ask.

Can anyone see heaven in the eyes of another

Is what I must ask.

I have seen love, the soft one,

Take a seat and

Settle comfortably

In the eyes of others.

I have seen hatred, the snake,

Uncoil and dance,

Spitting venom at everything and everyone,

From the eyes of others.

Too often, I have seen death, the thief,

Steal all the treasures from the eyes

Of those I loved,

Leaving them hollow and emptied out.

I have seen other things

In the eyes of others

Along these long years

But heaven—

I don’t really think so.

I may be too old to see such a wonder

Or too young yet to know it

When I see it.

So, to answer,

I would have to say, no.

No, I have not seen

Heaven in her eyes.

Among the Ruins

Tuesday Writing Prompt Challenge: Tuesday, December 22, 2020 | Go Dog Go Café (godoggocafe.com)

Walk with me among the ruins

I will show you the points of interest–

Notice the weeds grown up

between the cracks of stone,

the chambers filled with mold,

the temple fallen, the altar cracked,

seeming to fold.

Imagine who may have walked here

once so long ago,

wracking havoc with fire

upon those who called this home.

The fires burning to spite

the cold winter rain.

Those who survived left

staring into winter’s

icy back eyes

in the heart of it all.

Winter Has No Cheer

Tuesday Writing Prompt Challenge—December 8, 2020 | Go Dog Go Café (godoggocafe.com)

As winter whispers

The longing starts

For warmer days

Of a warming spring

Leaking slowly

Into a sweltering summer.

As winter whispers

In pretense of knowing

Warmth and cheer

Of holidays it cannot contain

In its freezing coldness,

We are left untouched

For far too long—

Our souls grow grey

In these winter days

And leap at the hope

Contained in striking colors

Of Winter’s sunsets–

Only to have hope

Bashed, broken, bleeding

Against the frozen Winter

Ground.  As Winter whispers,

Chuckling at our fragile humanity.
