Nymph

I completed this some months age for a challenge and did not get around to posting it. Now, I can’t remember which challenge or when it was made.

Nestled in the leaves

She awaits me.

Some nymph or maiden fair

I know not which she may be.

Time and touch shall reveal

the truth of her nature to me,

Yet I dream her sleeping,

Dreaming of me.

In the Secret Place

I hid them carefully,

The tokens left

In the forest keep

Of dreams sheltered

Far too long from mists,

Giving life to forms

Shifting in shadows

Where once we danced,

Loving for a time

Among the trees

Leaning to hide us

From those

Wishing us harm.

Then I woke.

Human once more.

Beneath The Surface

Beneath the surface of the night

Flailing fitful, restless

A dream slept wrapped

In a syllabic, heavy blanket,

Waking drenched in a sweat

Of moon touched light.

Upon this awakening,

Her shining skin did give

Away no secret of her wings or flight

Beneath the surface of the night.

Sweetened Stolen Dreams

Syrup still dripping from your fingertips,

you try to gift me the sugared dreams

you have stolen away

from a pearlescent candied sky.

I long to taste such dreams

of sweetened rest.

Walking to Race Point

Sleeplessness always told the story

between the back when and now,

what she once thought a game,

tracks leading nowhere.

This last section of living

something not well lived.

A swirl of memory

piercing through knots

too tight to be undone.

She had lived without a plan,

having a heart that spoke in tongues

she had yet to understand.
